The percentages of people of color in the workplace, as well as people from different cultural backgrounds, is constantly going up. Leading in a workplace that is ever changing, requires new skills, an awareness of different expectations and clarity about how to communicate effectively.

The needs of customers are changing. The marketplace is becoming more competitive. Innovation and creativity are bringing new approaches, new ideas and new ways to do business.  The importance of emotional intelligence cannot be overstated.  Best in class organizations are making sure their leaders also understand how to be 'socially and culturally intelligent' as well.

In order to lead in an environment that is dramatically changing supervisors, managers, and leaders need to be willing to consistently improve the tools they have in their leadership toolkit.
